Ancol Fantasy World or better known as Dufan is one of the tourist attractions in Jakarta which is quite popular. This tourist spot, which is located in Taman Impian Jaya Ancol complex, North Jakarta, was inaugurated on August 29, 1985 and has a mascot in the form of a proboscis monkey named Dufan. The choice of ape as the character is to remind that Ancol used to be a monkey area. Ancol Fantasy World area reaches 9.5 hectares of the planned development of 552 hectares of the integrated entertainment area Taman Impian Jaya Ancol.
As the name implies, Ancol Fantasy World carries the concept of traveling around a fantasy world. This playground is equipped with various high-tech toys and is divided into eight areas according to their own theme and the characteristics of each region. The division of this area is intended to awaken the imagination of visitors who are expected to feel the sensation of walking around the old Jakarta area, Europe, America, Indonesia, Asia, Greek Fantasy, Hikayat Fantasy, Balara and Istabon. Visitors can also explore the Puppet Palace which contains no less than 600 animatronic dolls ‘dressed up’ with various accessories and placed in settings that represent various world cultures. There are also Star Wars rides like in the Star Wars films. Armed with a laser sword, visitors can explore the hall which is designed to resemble space, complete with flying saucers.
A different atmosphere can be witnessed in the Rumah Miring ride. As the name implies, it’s not only the position of the house that is tilted, but the furniture in the rides is also tilted. Visitors can also try to walk down the glass hallway at the Jail House. In addition to game attractions, this area also has a number of restaurants and souvenir shops.
