In line with the division of the Pangandaran Regency area which was formerly under the Ciamis Regency Government, it is now maturing itself by separating from the Ciamis Regency Region and standing alone to become Pangandaran Regency. To complete its journey in growing up itself, Pangandaran Regency self-proclaimed wants to become a world tourist destination. On that basis, people in the Pangandaran Regency Region are asked to find and explore places that are feasible to sell as tourism commodities. Including the people around Ciwayang (Pasir Ciwayang), the decision was informed by the Acting Regent, they were very enthusiastic about it.
And apparently they didn’t think about it long because in the end, the people around Ciwayang, namely members of the Cimindi Village community, were supported by the Village Government, they immediately formed the Ciwayang tourism KOMPEPAR and proposed Ciwayang Rafting as a mainstay tourist destination. It turns out that the community’s efforts have received a positive response from various parties, especially from people or agencies engaged in tourism.
Even the Chairman of KOMPEPAR Pangandaran Regency, Kang Edi Rusmiadi, wholeheartedly welcomes Ciwayang tourism, especially after seeing the beauty presented by the Ciwayang river, the river used as the location for the Ciwayang Rafting Water Tour. He said, even though he was born as the youngest, the Cwayang River Tourism has quite bright prospects as a tourism commodity. From data on the beauty of the Ciwayang river from the KOMPEPAR Ciwayang expedition, the location is predicted to be a good source of life for the surrounding community and also for local government revenue, as long as maintenance and promotion are prioritized. Supporting facilities and infrastructure that do not yet exist, must be prepared immediately so that Pangandaran Regency, which proclaims itself as a world tourist destination, can be achieved.
This maintenance absolutely must be carried out by KOMPEPAR together with the community, while the government only protects and helps with things that cannot be done by the community, such as policies and strengthening regulations for the sake of tourism sustainability and progress. So, the birth of the Ciwayang Rafting Tour on November 9 2015 was based on a government decision that wanted to make Pangandaran Regency a world tourist destination.
