Sunflower Gardens in Bantul

The sunflower gardens in Bantul have become one of the most charming natural attractions near Samas Beach, offering a breathtaking landscape filled with bright yellow blooms. Spread widely across the coastal area, these sunflowers create a dazzling sea of color that instantly captivates visitors. Their vivid petals standing against the ocean breeze make this location a popular spot for photography lovers and casual tourists alike.

This beautiful garden is privately owned and maintained by a local farmer named Etik Purwanti. Initially, her intention was not to build a tourist destination. She planted sunflowers simply to protect her chili plants from the strong coastal winds. The harsh sea breeze often caused chili flowers to fall prematurely, damaging the crops. Sunflowers, with their strong stems and wide leaves, served as natural windbreakers that shielded the chili plants and helped maintain their productivity.

Over time, the sunflowers flourished beyond her expectations. Their glowing yellow color, large petals, and striking presence drew the attention of people passing by. Visitors began stopping to admire the garden and take photos among the blooming flowers. Many shared their pictures online, and before long, images of the sunflower garden went viral across social media platforms.

The viral attention transformed the once simple farmland into a lively tourist spot. Soon, the area was filled with visitors who came specifically to enjoy the view, take selfies, and experience the serene atmosphere of the coastal sunflower fields. What started as a practical farming solution has now become a beloved attraction that supports local tourism and brings joy to countless visitors.
