Pangandaran Travel – Machu Picchu is one of the seven wonders of the world located in Cusco, Peru. This historical relic located in a 2,430 meter high mountain valley is claimed to have existed since the 15th century. According to the records of the Britannica site , the historical site of Macu Picchu is the ruins of the Ancient Inka tribe. Not on a mountain, but above the Urabamba River valley which is about 70 kilometers from the city of Cusco. This 15th century civilization city was abandoned by its inhabitants due to the Spanish coming to the area.

Machu Picchu has an area of more than 300 square kilometers. In the past, Spain had come to the Machu Picchu area. This event is proven from history in 1572, when the Incas launched an act of rebellion against the Spanish who came there. The Britannica website explains that at that time the Spaniards had not found Machu Picchu. Then, it is possible that Augusto Berns, a German traveler, discovered this site although there are no complete records.
In 1911, historian from the United States, Hiram Bingham, discovered this site. For one year, he conducted research there and came to some conclusions about Machu Picchu. He called Machu Picchu a lost city. However, the theory created by him turned out to be inaccurate. Although there are indeed several Inca skulls, the Machu Picchu site is a series of forts, inns, and signal towers. Apart from that, Machu Picchu is also claimed to be the resting place of the Inka Empire.
The south, east and west sides are surrounded by several terraces which were still being used by the Indians when Hiram Bingham discovered the historical site. There, there are footpaths and thousands of steps that function to connect one building to another. Among these are the main square, residential areas, terraces, cemeteries and buildings. The main building, which is in classic Inka style, consists of Inti Watana, the Temple of the Sun, and the Three Window Chamber. Of the various objects that are there, some of the damaged ones have been restored since 1976.
