
Pangandaran Travel – Mount Merbabu is one of the volcanoes that is often intended for climbing. The mountain as high as 3,145 meters above sea level occupies three districts in Central Java. There is Magelang Regency in the west and Semarang Regency in the north. While the east and south sides are included in Boyolali Regency.
One of the things that attracts climbers to visit Mount Merbabu is its natural beauty. On this mountain spread a beautiful and beautiful expanse of savanna. Various shady forests in the form of pine trees and cantigi are no less interesting.

In addition, Mount Merbabu also has several choices of climbing routes. Each path offers its own challenges and charms. In total there are five official paths that climbers can choose from.
Wekas Path
The Wekas Path is located in Pakis District, Magelang Regency. There is a wide and flat area that can be used as a camping ground on this trail. Hikers who want to camp can choose the Wekas Path. The Wekas route will take climbers past the Transmitter Post and Helipad Post. Here there is a T-junction which is the meeting point of the other two paths.
Cuntel Path
The Cuntel route starts from Cuntel Hamlet, Kopeng, Semarang Regency. Tourists must walk past the Umbul Songo Campground and turn left. Follow the rocky path until you find directions to the climbing basecamp. The climb on the Cuntel Path begins by passing through villages and plantations. Climbers can stop at several posts to rest.
There are Shadow Posts I and II, Transmitter Posts, and Helipad Posts. The path will cross a hilly road decorated with pine trees.
In the dry season, this path will feel arid and dusty. However, the scenery presented along the way is immeasurably beautiful. At the peak of Kenteng Songo, on a clear day you will see a spectacular view. Mount Merapi, Mount Sumbing, Mount Sindoro, and other mountains are clearly visible from here.
Selo Path
This is the most crowded hiking route on Mount Merbabu. The Selo path starts from Boyolali, and the gate is relatively close to the highway. There is a basecamp to prepare climbers before starting. Along this path there is no water source, so climbers must prepare enough water.
The specialty of this trail is the expanse of savanna along its path. Only a few points are steep or steep. The rest is dominated by gently sloping trails that traverse the vast grasslands. Edelweiss flower beds also beautify this path.
Suwanting Path
Do not choose the Suwanting Path if your feet are not used to the steep uphill road. This route starts in Duwanting Hamlet, Banyuroto Village, Sawangan, Magelang. This path takes climbers along the west side of Mount Merbabu. The hallmark of this route is the number of water sources along the road. In addition, the path passes through shady pine and lamtoro forests. However, the journey to the top will be more difficult. The path will be more steep and slippery so it requires a rope to get through.
Thekelan Path
The Thekelan Path is another hiking trail option. The entrance is on the road leading to the gate of the Cuntel Path. The journey begins by crossing the local people’s plantations and pine forests. A beautiful view of Mount Telomoyo can be found here. The challenge that must be faced is when going through Pereng Putih. There is also Watu Gubug, a rock with a hole that can be used as a shelter.
Mount Merbabu Entrance Ticket
Mount Merbabu is a national park area. To enter it, both tourists and climbers are charged a fee.

Climbing Mount Merbabu is open to the public every day. The exception is in the rainy season, usually the weather is not supportive from the afternoon to the evening.
