
The caldera in this park is the largest on the island of Java, with 10 km of barren desert. In this sea of sand, seven eruption centers were found in two crossing paths, namely from east-west and northeast-southwest.
The cool air is one of the reasons for visiting the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area. The air temperature in TNBTS can reach 22 to 3 degrees Celsius. Even the coldest temperature can occur at dawn during the dry season which reaches 3 degrees Celsius. A number of locations, such as in Ranu Kumbolo and the peak of Mount Semeru can reach below 0 degrees Celsius.

Two special areas that are visited by many tourists, one of which is of course Mount Bromo. The unique thing about Mount Bromo is that we can go straight to the top or see from the surrounding area that has become an icon of the Bromo area. The icon is called the Hill of Love. We can go to Bukit Cinta with four-wheeled vehicles and continue on foot along the top of the hill. Arriving at the top we will find a beautiful view. Namely Mount Batok in the shape of a pyramid. The 2,440 meter high mountain covers Bromo from the sight of tourists who have gathered at Bukit Cinta. The landscape of Mount Batok is what usually becomes the background for tourists’ photos, to show that they have traveled to Mount Bromo
How to get to the Bromo area
Airway
Travelers who use planes can go to Juanda Airport, in the city of Surabaya first before continuing on the land route. There are more flight options through Juanda airport than through Abdurrahman Shaleh Airport in Malang Regency.
Land Line
If through the city of Surabaya, travelers can go to the Bungurasih Surabaya terminal. Then choose the bus heading to Probolinggo. Arriving in Probolinggo, travel by using public transportation similar to Colt to Ngadisari District. There are two villages Wonotoro and Jetak which are the closest points to the slopes of the hills of Cemoro Lawang, which is the closest village to Mount Bromo. Through the city of Malang, tourists can go through the Overlapping Market. From there you can rent a Hartop or a Jeep to the Bromo area, usually at night to arrive before sunrise. If using the train, travelers get off at Kota Baru station. Then you can use public transportation from the Arjosari terminal or take a taxi directly to the Overlapping Market where you can rent a special vehicle like Hartop or Jeep.
TIPS
- As a destination that presents natural beauty, visitors need to work around when is the best time to visit Bromo. It’s best if you come right in June-October because this is the dry season weather which makes Bromo beautiful from all sides.
- Towards the Bromo area can be reached from several points. So adjust the route to where you live, from Malang, Surabaya, Probolinggo or Cemoro Lawang.
- If you want to use the services of a jeep vehicle, you should book in advance and make sure the vehicle is suitable for exploring Bromo’s nature.
- Even though warm clothes are provided, it’s not wrong for you to bring your own warm clothes for comfort.
