When we hear the name Tanjung Puting, we usually call Orangutan. Seeing orangutans living freely in their habitat is the main goal that tourists generally want to achieve when visiting Tanjung Puting National Park. Orangutans will usually be found in special camps. But before we travel to Tanjung Puting, we must know the right time to visit the Orang Utan’s natural habitat. The dry season is the right time for visitors to witness orangutans in the camp in greater numbers than during the rainy season.

Because, during the dry season, fruit doesn’t grow much in the middle of the forest, so orangutans prefer to visit the camp to eat the fruit provided by the officers. Tanjung Puting has become the home of the largest orangutan in Indonesia, Orangutan Foundation International itself noted in 2017 that there are nine species of primates known as the Bornean orangutan. Three of them are endemic primates of Borneo, one of which is the Bornean orangutan. According to the latest data from the Orangutan Foundation International, there are around 6,000 orangutans living along Tanjung Puting National Park. But those who often appear at the camp to take food are around 70.
